Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing season opens round these parts tomorrow. Off the Farmington River, just south of Canton Connecticut, the State has planted thousands of Rainbow and Brown in anticipation for the annual Saint Patty's Day kick off to the season. So my buddy and I will be staking out our spot before the sun comes up.

Brown Trout. Browns are abundant on the Farmington. They are a bit smarter then the Rainbow and tend to survive the onslaught of amatuer fishermen. You can find the Browns later in the season and they typically grow to the 12" to 16" size and really put up a spectacular fight. If you are looking to really have some fun, try spinning with a Silver Blue Fox, a little spinning lure you can pick up at Walmart for about 4 bucks. I picked up this legendary trick from by partner who has fished these waters since he was 3.
