Flowers from New Zealand

One thing that is beautiful about flower availability in our industry is that the world is round and it wobbles, when it's winter here, it summer in New Zealand. NZBloom has been a supplier for my company a number of years now. Based in Los Angeles with farms in New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand, having access to some of what I think are the most beautiful flowers in the world puts our work in the amazing category. Hydrangeas and Peonies are to die for.

Asian Inspired Centers

The one thing unique about this event was that each table was designed differently even though there were prety much the same elements. Lots of varied glass, Chocolate Anturiums, and heavy Japanese lanterns. What's so fun about this type of party, is that there are no two exact same places within the room. I was so pleased with the lighting, amber gels on the tables complimented by violet on the walls, so fun, so sharp.

Vintage trims

A unique warehouse/store in NY. Started by a man who practically bout out the world's stock of metallic wire. In fact the US Government bought metal threads from him during WWII for making uniforms because they could not import. Facinating story.

How to catch EarthWorms

There is no other reason for this post other then a helpful hint for catching Earthworms. No other bait guarantees a catch better then a live worm. Fish just cannot resist.

After a rain, take a pichfork and stick it into the ground as far as you can. Move it make and forth a half dozen times amd wait a few minutes. The Earthworms will come out by the dozen.

Cheerwine

Have you tried this new Soda? Have you checked out this very cool website?

Preston Bailey posted an article on his blog, Common Mistakes that rings so true for event designers. Aside from the article Preston inserted a picture of a Bamboo Tent, quite common in India where this tent was constructed. Most of us would cring at the potential liabilities, but in reality Bamboo is a very strong and renewable resource that is and has been used for building structures in a large part of the world for eons. I am totally impressed as I'm sure Preston was. Just look at the massive decor Preston installed within for the event. Preston Rocks!

Is Social Media a fad?

Super 8mm

Parts of this video were shot using a Super 8mm camera and film. Super 8 movies are poping up in the wedding industry, a trend that is virtually untaped for now. Some of the bright stars that are becoming leaders in the video fields. Super 8 films capture memories as memories are viewed within our minds eye, sort of glossy, sort of repetitive, images that run in slomo and stir real emotions.

Purchasing Super 8 cameras are relitively inexpensive and can be found on Ebay. There are several really informative websites that one can begin to search for information and even tutorials, free stuff at your finger tips. The main investment if you want to transpher 8mm film to digital format would be shelling out several thousand bucks for transhere equipment, or you can have them done for you through Pro8mm, either way a talented Videographer can demand five to eight thousand dollars for a social event function such as weddings.

There are many examples of this being done such as this:

Father Son

I had a rough relationship with my Dad. Seems like I was always the receptacle of his anger and never could amount to much, though I idolized him and watched him closely. His many talents, resourcefulness, and incredible common sense he gave me. This song always hits home with me.

Cars

One of the perks of my business is that we rent cars when we have meetings in Washington DC and beyond. I could say that I have test driven all makes and models. My latest car was a pure joy to drive. I drove a 2010 black Ford Fusion. I must say the Fusion was by far a tighter handler, great pick up speed, and averaged 24.8 mpg. The only downside was a weak stero system, most mid to full sized cars offered usually have satellite which makes a 8 hour trip somewhat interesting because you spend most of the subconsience time checking out the 200 channels. I rate the Ford Focus a 8+
